Treasures From The Barn!

It's a day for secrets to be shared! And it's a big one that l've been keeping!

Now that l have photographic evidence, its time to share!

This is what's been keeping me busy ( and away from the blog) for the past little while,

And l can't quite believe today has finally come!

Massive thanks to Carol and Quiltmania for putting your trust in me

with this beautiful book full of  my antique quilts and pattens to make them!

Now to be ever so patient till the copies land here

and l can hold one in my shaking hands!

Dreams do come true!

If you go to Quiltmania's website HERE

you can have a preview of the books that are included in the book.

Click on the front cover and ENJOY!!!

To say l'm a little excited is an understatement!

l hope you enjoy my book as much as l have enjoyed collecting these quilts,

and now sharing them with you!

Looking forward to hearing everyones reviews,

and seeing some wonderful reproductions of my quilts in the future!

Regular blogging will resume soon!!

Thanks for visiting!
Linda.

Jo's workshop.

Its been a busy, busy few couple of weeks,
with a house full of international and interstate visitors,
all who have now returned home, leaving the house strangely quiet.
So time to play a little catchup on our goings on.
Several blog posts coming in the following days, will of course, be a surprise after weeks of silence! So enjoy....

A lovely bunch of ladies joined us for Jo's workshop a few weeks back.
This is the lovely display Jo made with her quilts using the stamp sets.
I'm looking forward next year to swing some of these.

And this is the quilt the ladies worked on who chose to do Appliqué,
using Jo's back basting method.

The ladies were well feed with muffins for morning tea,
vegetable frittata and mango, avocado and rocket salad with citrus dressing for lunch,
followed by some yummy cakes for afternoon tea.

We were joined by 14 lovely ladies, and a great day was had by everyone.
many made good progress on their blocks.

Late afternoon, we had some special entertainment, provided by the local wild birds,
who are quite friendly and wanted to join in on the quilting fun!

Jo was even able to get quiet close without scaring them away.

Many thanks to all the ladies who came along,
and helped make such a few day for us all.

Thanks for visiting!
Linda.

Jo Morton Workshops. 21st and 22nd November 2015

Bookings have been coming in  at a steady pace,
and a super fun weekend with Jo Morton is planned.

There are still vacancies, so don't hesitate to contact me if you would love to join us.
This is the only venue that Jo will be teaching this trip,
and may well be the final chance to take a class with
this well known and respected International teacher.
I personally am looking forward to taking both classes.

Jo will take you through how easy it is to use stamp sets when piecing Lemoyne Stars.
She will also share tips on making accurate templates from Template plastic.
The quilt below is just one of the quilts she will share with you in class.

Applique is one technique that l am in serious need of improvement.
And Jo's backbasting method is sure to help me improve.

Jo will share tips and tricks on her back basting technique for needle turn applique.
The block showing in the quilt below will be what you will work on during the day.

So come along and join us in what is shaping up to be a few fun days.

Thanks for visiting.
Linda.

Does absence make the heart grow fonder?

I've been missing in action!
With no real excuse!
Other than busy, busy, busy!
Did you miss me?

Life has a habit of plowing along at full steam,
even when sometimes we just want to stop and smell the roses.

Its been a full year, as well as a difficult year.
Just after my last post we lost my Father-in-law,
then followed a week later with the passing of my 18yr old nephew.
One could say that took the wind out of my sails for a bit.
And blogging was the last thing on my list of important stuff to do.

I've had an email or 2 asking if we are having our quilt exhibition this year,
and l guess that's been the prompt I've needed to get
back on here and get writing and sharing again.
Of course, no blog post from me is not complete without photos,
so l am sharing a few close ups from this years raffle quilt.

The quilt has been designed and made by Jenny Bear,
with all Jo Morton fabrics,
then  machine quilted by Debbie Burville ( Quilts From Nana's Trunk)
The fussy cutting by Jenny has to be seen to be believed,
and so as you can see by the photos I'm sharing,
its a truly stunning quilt,
and both ladies have gone above and beyond my expectations with this quilt.
Their collaboration on this quilt has been amazing!
The full quilt will be revealed soon! Promise!

Our flyer is currently under construction, so will share that as soon as possible.
l can however give you the dates so you can put them in your diary.

This years exhibit will take place on the 27th, 28th and 29th November 2015.
Usual place, usual times, hopefully the usual people!

Our special guest this year is Jo Morton.
Many of you may have visited us back in 2011 when Jo was our special guest then.
She loved her time here with you Aussie girls so much,
she jumped at the chance to make a return visit.
And this time we are planning some workshops with her.
Details will be released at the end of the week.

However, please feel free to contact me to put your name on a wait list.
The classes, which will be hand piecing, will take place
the weekend of 21st and 22nd November.
They will be 1 day classes, and I believe Jo will be teaching different things on each day.
Details are being firmed up this week.

Didn't l tell you!
The fussy cutting!
The quilting!!
Raffle tickets coming soon!

Mary Koval will also be here again this year,
with bags full of lovely antique quilts and goodies to tempt us!

The Quilted Crow will also be here again,
and she is planning on having lots of lovely Jo fabrics available for sale!!
All Jo's fabrics play so well together.

So hopefully by  having all these lovely photos to look at,
you have forgiven my absence.
And l plan on posting more regularly again.

Thanks for visiting.
Linda.

You can find me and the other girls over on instagram for more regular updates.
